The province of Granada has several protected designations of origin, including Montes de Granada and Poniente de Granada. These two areas produce extra virgin olive oils with different characters, depending on the olive varieties and the terroir. The visit follows the path of the olive, from the reception of the fruit to bottling, and gives a close look at the work of the growers.
The tasting follows the basic method of sensory analysis: smell, taste, and identify fruitiness, bitterness and pungency. The group leaves with simple reference points for choosing an oil, and a chance to talk with someone who works in the sector.
We arrange the visit at a mill in the province, subject to availability when the request is made. It can be combined with a visit to Granada or a lunch in town.
